Avatamsaka Sutra, or the Flower Adornment of the Garland Sutra which demonstrates Buddha’s endless, obstacle-free life wisdom after he reached illumination portraying his virtues through Samantabhadra and Manjusri Bodhisattvas in nine meetings, seven places of heaven and earth. Huayen Lotus Society has been hosting the Avatamsaka Sutra chanting assembly twice a year since 1957 in the direction of Abbot Nanting at that time.
Starting on Sunday, December 25 through January 1, ABLS will host 8-day Avatamsaka Sutra chanting Volumes 60 through 81 to be led by Abbess Tian Cheng. She will also lecture the essentials of this part of the sutra. Under all Buddha’s benevolent blessings, all sentient beings will enter the world of Avatamsaka.
On January 1, the 8th day of chanting will include dedicating the merit to all tablets erected in the grand hall.
The service during the 8-day will start at 8:30 AM. You are all cordially invited to participate and receive the blessings.
On Sunday, January 1, 2017, in celebrating Saha Founder Sakyamuni attained enlightenment, ABLS will conduct chanting The Vows of Samantabhadra, food offering ceremony and vegetarian meals for parishioners. The service will start at 8:30 AM throughout afternoon. Everyone is invited.
