“Avalokitesvara Bodhisattva’s Renunciation Day Dharma Service”
ABLS will celebrate Avalokitesvara (Guanyin) Bodhisattva’s Renunciation Day on November 1st, 2020 (Sunday). Starting at 9 AM, there will be Liturgy of Guanyin Bodhisattva, with the assembly chanting the Avalokiteshvara Mantra (incantation), Heart Sutra, Universal Gate Sutra, and making light offerings. Food offering ceremony will be conducted at noon. Starting again at 1:30 PM, participants will chant the Cundī Sutra, Cundī Mantra, followed by Eighty-Eight Buddha Repentance, and Meng Shan Food Bestowal Ceremony.
Meanwhile, to prevent the transmission of COVID-19 among religious communities, the Main Hall will be closed to the public where the following services are held as usual: the Morning and Evening Chanting Liturgy, Sunday Dharma Services, Avalokitesvara Bodhisattva’s Renunciation Day Dharma Service, and Year-End Avatamsaka Sutra Chanting Ceremony (changed to One-Month Chanting Service). For those who want to make offerings and pay respect to the deceased, please call ahead and make an appointment; or visit on Saturday (9:30-16:00) and Sunday (9:00-16:00), and pay respect at the courtyard South of the Main Hall. Be sure to wear Face Masks when coming here.
