“Avalokitesvara Bodhisattva’s Enlightenment Day Dharma Service”
ABLS will celebrate Avalokitesvara (Guanyin) Bodhisattva’s Enlightenment Day on July 30th, 2023 (Sunday). Starting at 9 AM, there will be Liturgy of Guanyin Bodhisattva, with the assembly chanting the Avalokiteshvara Mantra (incantation), Heart Sutra, Universal Gate Sutra, and making light offerings. The Food Offering Ceremony will be conducted at noon. Starting again at 1:30 PM, participants will chant the Cundī Sutra, Cundī Mantra, followed by Eighty-Eight Buddha Repentance, and Meng Shan Food Bestowal Ceremony.
“Ullambana Celebration Dharma Service”
In the post-pandemic time, the 2023 Ullambana Celebration Dharma Service will remain as a One-Month Intensive Practice (see the attached timetable for details), starting from 8/13/2023 to 9/10/2023 (on the last day of 9/10/2023: Dedication of Merits & Burning Name Plates). Please contact our office for more detailed information.
*** Lunch Service on Sundays ***
ABLS will offer lunch on Sundays starting from August 13th, 2023 (Sunday) following these policies below:
1. Lunch on Sundays is offered to those who will stay and participate in the afternoon service.
2. Please bring your own lunch box and utensils. When getting food in the dining hall, wear a face mask and remain in silence.
3. Please have lunch in the courtyard or in your own car.
On Sunday (9:00 – 15:30), all are welcome to participate inside the Buddha Hall without making an appointment. Seating is arranged with social distancing, and based on a first-come first-served basis.
From Tuesday to Saturday (9:30 – 16:00), people can also come inside the Buddha Hall on their own. From Monday to Saturday, all are welcome to join the Morning and Evening Liturgy by appointment.
Lectures such as Expounding the Avatamsaka Sutra, Introduction to the Vimalakīrti Sutra are held on ZOOM as before. The Dining Hall, Library and other areas are not open to the public yet.
If you need to make offerings to the Buddha, Dharma, and Sangha, support the temple, make light offerings, or set up blessing plates for the living or the deceased, you can register in person, or call the office (408-942-0874) during our regular hours (9:30 – 16:00 Tuesday to Sunday).
